Fane-style scoop bins/Karlson enclosures
Have any of you ever used a Fane-style 15" scoop bin on bass? If so, how well did it work for you?
Also, what about Karlson enclosures? Anyone ever use one of those?

I have used a Fane 15" scoop bin for several years and I love it! But it will really depend on what you want from a bass speaker cabinet. If you want extra clean highs and punchy bass, it's not for you. If you want great cabinet tone for subtle groove, it might be for you. I built my cabinet slightly modified from the Fane specifications with tilt back rollers and handles. I then experimented with several different speakers before finally landing on a Peavey Scorpion. The low end carries well, but falls short of the solid thump you will get from tuned ported cabinets. In my opinion, it has a very musical tone overall with good midrange and lows. Highs are somewhat lacking due to the single 15 speaker. For me, it works well, and my fellow band members love the tone! Never had any experience with Karlson enclosures. Hope this helps . . .
