Hi All...
Just a guy in my '60's... never too late I figure. I've got some nice gear I think; a CBS '75 P-Bass, about the heaviest guitar I've ever lifted! That's why I got a Neoprene type strap... Then for an amp it's a GK 700RB 210 combo. I've had a guitar since I was 16 but now that I'm retired I've got time, and the desire, to practice for at least an hour every day and concentrate on the 4 string bass. Looking around for instructors but haven't found a good match yet. Meanwhile I hve a ton of books, CDs, DVD's, and web sites that I use. This looks like a great one for advice on the low end. I'd love to put a small group together to play around a bit. Music I like and play? Everly Bros, Tom Petty, some oldies from Sam Cooke, Presley, Roy Orbison, Moby Grape, etc. ~ Nice to be here!

Hello RC and welcome. Small group? Too bad you're on the opposite side of the country from me. Wanna come to Georgia?=)
Is that the only bass you have? Guitars? Love those Everly's. Didn't care much for Elvis. Moby Grape? Don't know that one. I'll have to google that.

Hey roscoestring, Thanks! And do check out MG, you might like... Jerry Miller is very hot guitar and old bass player Bob Mosley although not super technical, was a big part of the sound. That Precision is my only base but I've also got a couple six strings; don't think I can post a pic here. I've got an old Gibson SG, a Fender Newporter acoustic and prob the best is my 1939 Gibson six string. Tnx for the invite to Georgia, may ride my bicycle there some day...

Some of those oldies are way heavy.
Either keeps you young or makes you
older faster.
Welcome !
