    Interesting setup, indeed!
That lipstick is huge! I'd love to hear a sound clip, if you could record one. Nothing fancy, if your computer has a microphone, that'd do the trick I've been doing my recordings using the USB microphone that came with Guitar Hero, recording direct into Audacity (free, open source recording/editing software), and it works well enough. I've mostly been doing it to demonstrate tones and get advice on some forums. Http://ankhanu.myspace.com if you want to hear how the setup sounds.

Yeah, I say go for it! It wouldn't be too hard to do. I don't know what you'd do about all the routes. You could cover the one's on the front with the pickguard. The one on the back, I dunno. I guess you could just leave the Strat cover over it. Do you have a neck? I used an SX shorty neck on my builds. (Rondo Music). I recut the headstocks to be more appropriate to the Tele and Strat body styles. I did one (go to first post to see pic) using a Squier 51 body, which is a modified Strat body. I bought a $100 SX bass and used the neck, electronics, bridge, actually everything except the body. It was actually cheaper to do that than buy the parts individually. I sold the SX body to recoup a little of my $. However, if you go that route you could just buy an SX bass and have a Strat style body. Now that I think about it, it may not be such a good idea. I don't like the finish on the SX necks. It's "sticky". Also, it just looks funny. I stripped my necks and refinished them.

How 'bout this idea? Sell the Strat. Take the money and buy an SX and make it what you want it. The SX's are pretty good for what they are. I've had no problems with them. I just wanted a Tele bodied bass that I could afford. That's my reason for doing it.

I'm just throwing ideas out there. Come back at me and let me know what you think now.

Ya know...I think I'm gonna go for it and build that li'l Strat bass. What have I got to lose.........I can't make my short fat fingers work on six little strings and I have a hard enough time with four big strings!!! I think it'll be fun doin' it and making it up as I go. It may take me awhile but it'll eventually get done and who knows......it may even sound half way decent!! I might be able to find me a bass with a salvageable neck in one of the umpteen million pawn shops in San Antonio at a good price. Wish me luck.

Well, it has been a while and I've been looking at the bass and trying to decide on a color to paint it. Then I saw a swirl paint job someone did on a guitar on another forum. I was inspired. So I swirled the bass. It was too flashy for me though so I spattered it then. I still have to clear it and get it smooth. In the meantime here are so pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I ran out of clear and money so I put her back together today. I may go back in the future and clear her smooth. I may add a pickup at the neck in the future too. Here's what she looks like now.
